Koh Samui is a small island located in the gulf of Thailand, approximately 600km from Bangkok. Discovered by backpackers in the 1970's, it quickly became popular due to its wide variety of natural beauties.
Around Samui you will find miles of clean sandy beaches, lush coconut plantations and fabulous rainforest terrain, whilst those looking for a more lively time will be delighted with the range of bars, clubs and restaurants available in Chaweng.
The weather on Samui is always tropical, never falling below 20 celsius at the coldest times of year. During the wet season (October to November), temperatures are generally more temperate and comfortable, whilst the dry/hot season (February to July) has a higher average temperature, with less rain to cool things down again.
Travelling to Samui is a simple task these days, with a small international airport now allowing direct flights from Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore. There are also two ferry ports and even a seaplane on which visitors can arrive!
Food on Samui is available for every taste, with a multitude of international and Thai restaurants cooking spectacular dishes at incredibly cheap prices.
